Week 35

For p day today we went on a trip with the missionaries from 2 zones (like 20 elders and 14 sisters) to an active volcanoe by our sector named volcan calbuco! It was a super fun trip. We got to hike for like 3 or 4 hours, which i thought was going to be hard, but it was actually really easy because i`m so used to walking all the time here in the mission haha. There`s a ton of pictures so i`ll send pictures now more next week, because they take a while to load/send.
This week, we worked with the members here in Calbuco s tonnn, and had tons of success as well. My favorite thing that happened this week was a 17 year old dude named N
the 17 year old dude named Nacho told me and my companion about 3 months ago that he wasn`t going to go on a mission. We`ve been visiting him a lot and he`s been spending a lot of time with us with my new companion and i, we haven`t even mentioned the mission thing at all, and he just randomly told us that he finished his papers, and he`s going to submit them when he turns 18 in may!! So awesome. He said he is super excited to go, and he said he never had the desire to go until he started getting to know the elders better and learn what they do and what they are really like. He said he`ll write us when he gets his call if we are still in the mission so i`ll be waiting for that!
Another thing that was a huge miracle, was that last week we talked with the ward to set goals to go to the temple and to get as many members as we can to the temple. A couple days later, out of nowhere, we had 2 people come up to us in the street and say ¨Hey elders! We`re here for vacation and we want to visit the church here on sunday too, where is it and when does it start? we`re from Santiago and we both work in the temple, let us know if we can help with anything!¨ We were shocked haha and so this sunday we had a class about the temple and the members who haven`t gone to the temple yet, got to ask the couple who worked in the temple all sorts of questions and the couple knew EVERYTHING about EVERYTHING with regards to temple haha. It was an awesome class and it gave the members here in calbuco a huge desire to go to the temple.
Anyways, out of time for this week

Week 34

Hey this Sunday was super crazy, because the branch president was gone so I was the person in charge this Sunday. It was crazy because I had to be the person to lead the meeting, never done that before! It kind of sucked though because one of the people who was going to give a talk bailed, so I ended up winging one hahah which is much harder to do in Spanish than in English.
We had exchanges for the day with a couple other elders, and i ended up with my old companion, Elder Roy (My companion from Mexico) and we spent the day here in Calbuco! It was fun and we were able to get a lot done.
We`re still teaching the same families, who are progressing pretty slowly, but progressing nonetheless. We have found a lot of new investigators and less actives to teach this week and onward so I'm excited for that! Also, on our exchange the other elder went with my companion, and he had been in Calbuco 8 months ago and showed us some really cool investigators that we can go by and teach now!
I`m always tired even though i get the most sleep I've ever gotten in my life (8 hours every night at least!) But I'm glad to be a missionary and help people learn about the gospel.

Week 33

We had a conference with the mission president this week so that was a highlight of the week! It was kind of long, 8:30 in the morning until 4:30 in the afternoon, but it was fun to catch up with other missionaries and see a bunch of my friends in the mission.

This week was full of service. One guy that my companion knew from another sector is moving here to Calbuco so we spent a lot of the day helping him move and settle into his house. He is super awesome and i`m really excited to have him in the branch because the branch needs more people.

A couple of members who are less actives were remodeling their house and asked us to help them, so we ended up helping them almost every day this week. It was awesome too because they came to church this sunday and although they haven`t been going to church for a long time, they want to come back and everytime we go over to help them, they never let us leave without leaving a spiritual thought!

We also went to a really old lady`s house to cut a ton of firewood because everyone starts buying wood this time of year. It took like 3 hours but we finished all of it! I`m glad we did it though because i feel like she would have died of a heart attack doing it herself haha seriously though, she was old.

Anyways, we did a ton of service this week and it was a really good week! I like teaching by example and by service because it shows the missionaries aren`t just here to talk about the gospel, but to live it by giving service and helping other people.

Side note:
We went to the Branch Presidents house today, and he was watching highlights from the SuperBowl!!!! It sucks i didn`t get to see the actual game, because it looked super good, but at least i saw the best parts of it! Haha also, i`m guessing Russell Wilson and Pete Carroll are going to get a lot of crap for that last play. That was superrr unlucky. 1 yard away from the touchdown and throw an interception...

Until Next Week!

This is a bigger city about 1 hour north of Calbuco named Puerto Montt. The city has a huge mall with Mcdonalds, KFC, Pizza Hut, and other american stores so it`s pretty cool. The mall is like 6 or 7 floors so it`s big.

I never saw Ninja Stars and brass knuckles at many stores in the states so i thought that was cool

We found all 7 Dragon Balls. No big deal.

My brother Justyn is obsessed with Chocapic in Ecuador and it`s also a really popular cereal here in Chile too!

A gigantic Hot dog. Enough said.
